Libellud – Dixit – Board Game
This product was recommended by Franco Moiso from TheSundayGrill
Sometimes grilling takes a while, so playing board games is a good way to enjoy while the meat is ready. Dixit is a fun one to play because it is very creative and you have to adapt each time. The game consists of saying clues while playing a card. You have to aim for a good clue so that at least one other player guesses your card, but it can’t too easy because if everybody finds it then you lose. You are taking turns while making your way across the board. First to the finish line wins!

My Mini Magnetic Travel Game Ludo
This product was recommended by Kevin Mercier from Kevin MRC
I carry this board game around with me everywhere I travel. This traditional game is for the whole family where the old and young can pit their wits against one another with a single classic game. This strategic board game allows up to four players in one game in which the players race their four tokens from start to finish according to the rolls of a single die. This board game is perfect for keeping your fingers busy on those long journeys.
Secret Hitler
This product was recommended by Ted Mosby from CamperAdvise
It’s a hidden traitor board game for 5-10 players in which participants are separated into two groups, one of which is secretly designated as Hitler. Each side will try to pass as many of their faction’s policies as possible before assassinating or electing Hitler. We may all agree that guessing which side wants what is unnecessary. This is the game for you if you’ve ever wanted to influence pre-WWII Germany’s political thinking. Also, it has a wry sense of humor and is a lot of fun.

Ghost Blitz 2 Game
This product was recommended by Thomas Sorheim from LeisureHiking
We always bring a board game with us when we go for weekend hikes with the kids. Since there is a limit to what we can bring with us in our backpacks, the game needs to have a small form factor, while at the same time be a game that the kids love to play over and over again. Our absolute favourite is the Ghost Blitz, and we have all 5 versions. We usually bring Ghost Blitz 1 or Ghost Blitz 2 when we go hiking as they have the smallest boxes. The Ghost Blitz games are great games that require focus and speed and I believe it stimulates reasoning and brain activity amongst kids. It is also a great game for adults! At this point, our 8 year old wins 100% of the time, no matter which of the 5 versions we play.
Gamelyn Game Tiny Epic Defenders
This product was recommended by Jacob Smith from Neverending Field Trip
While pretty much any board game can be a travel board game if you have a big enough bag (looking at you, Gloomhaven), in general it’s a good idea to save space. Luckily, that’s where the Tiny Epic series of games excel. Games like Tiny Epic Defenders do a great job of keeping the story, and the fun, BIG while making sure the game’s footprint is small enough to take along without needing to check a bag.
Pandemic Board Game
This product was recommended by Ryan Yount from LuckLuckGo
If you enjoy playing games during your travels, Pandemic should be the one, especially in this covid era. It is a cooperative board game that requires all the players to play against the board and race against time to cure the disease. You can chuckle at the quarantine specialist who tries to control outbreaks in the hotspot region. The game is more enjoyable when played by your friends. It requires between two to four players and takes about 40 to 60 minutes of playtime.
Dominion: 2nd Edition
This product was recommended by Cindy Corpis from SearchPeopleFree
This deck-building top-notch card game is everyone’s favorite. You have to opt for a brand-new set of cards to play with the contenders as each game will bring a wide array of fun. It’s also a fast-paced game, which guarantees approx 3-4 plays in one session. Being a fun and agile game to play with two players, you can get the maximum advantage. Moreover, this best-in-class travel board game comes in a vast and pretty box. But since this one is merely just decks of cards, you might feel free to lose the box while traveling. The approximate playing time is 20-40 minutes.
MONOPOLY Deal Card Game
This product was recommended by Shiv Gupta from Incrementors
Traditional Monopoly isn’t a game you can take with you when you travel. And, let’s face it, no one loves it. It has the fun aspects of conventional Monopoly, so you may still play as a real estate tycoon attempting to accumulate sets of properties. You’ll still need to devise a killer plan that balances increasing your bank balance with expanding your empire. And you can still go from kingpin to down and out in an instant.
Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza
This product was recommended by Shiv Gupta from Incrementors
This easy game is certain to get your tongue tangled and the party begins. Anyone may play, but winning hurts. Cards are dealt out evenly to each player, face down, with no one looking at them. The game’s name comes from the fact that there are five distinct cards: taco, cat, goat, cheese, and pizza. If the name doesn’t make you grin, you’re dead on the inside. This is the most basic of games, yet it will keep you occupied for hours. Or until your knuckles are sore from being smacked repeatedly. This may become a little rowdy.
Catan Dice Game
This product was recommended by Brian Lee from Drill & Driver
Catan Dice Game is one of the best games to play as it doesn’t need more concentration and you can play it easily while traveling. You require 2-4 players to play this game where you have to build the settlements on the fictional island of Catan. This game approximately requires 1 hour to play. There are 19 tiles total, 18 are the mix of the resources (3x Clay, 3x Ore, 4x Grain, 4x sheet, 4x forest) and 1 is the desert which is a dead tile.
Age of Civilization Strategy Card Game
This product was recommended by Joe Flanagan from 90s Fashion
What are the top things you look for in a travel board game? For me its size and how easy it is to play. I don’t care for never ending instructions and a game that draws for hours if its not interesting every second of the way. I mean, I want to be able to get to playing asap and to be able to learn it if its new to me without putting hours of study. In this case, this game complies with both. Plus it is super engrossing, I couldn’t drop it after I first tried it! It is a strategy game that you can enjoy with your whole family and that will undoubtedly keep you entertained over long hours of travelling.
Ticket to Ride Board Game
This product was recommended by Sam Lockwood from 52Editions
This game is capturing hearts all around the world thanks to its colourful components and map style. It is simple to learn, unlike many other board games, but it does require some strategy to win. The playtime is slightly longer than average, ranging from 1.5 to 2 hours. However, if you have a group of 3 to 5 individuals who enjoy playing strategic board games, I recommend it. Connect your favourite locations throughout the world!

This cool game is about as small as it gets – perfect for travel, yet it’s practical. It comes with mini cards and chips for the board, and the goal of this game is to get a sequence, aka five in a row, which is an affordable little box of fun that is also strategic and challenging. You have to think about how to get the combinations to win. Lastly, it is packaged in a self-contained box that will fit in a pocket!
