About Castello di Vicarello:
Castello di Vicarello is a family run luxury estate situated between Rome and Florence in the untouched Maremma region of Tuscany’s rolling hills and Tyrrhenian Seaside. Listed as one of the world’s best hotels in Conde Nast Traveller’s 2019 Gold List, guests at Vicarello are offered a high level of privacy, seclusion and personalised service thanks to a fantastic staff and a limited number of suites. With two swimming pools, two kitchen gardens, an al fresco spa and exquisite terraces surrounded by 40 hectares of vineyards and olive groves, guests will feel safe and able to relax in a world away from the recent stress of lockdown.
From the new Spa Suite and a newly launched al fresco menu, to a renovated private villa with its own wine cellar, guests can expect space and serenity at this 12th Century Castello, whilst maintaining its charm and exquisite level of service, which the hotel has become renowned for; and the family living on the hotel grounds ensure each request is met with a personal touch.
Acquired in the 1970’s by Aurora and Carlo Baccheschi Berti, the couple and their family have lovingly restored the characterful building to offer a private Tuscan retreat that boasts contemporary influences and interiors from the family’s travels across the globe; with infusions of Middle-Eastern and Indonesian touches, accompanying the quintessentially Tuscan architecture and aesthetic, with unique pieces of art adorning the walls of the corridors and rooms. Now in the very capable hands of Aurora and Carlo’s son, Neri, careful consideration for the local surroundings and the comfort of guests has culminated in a unique and modern design-led style and sense of relaxed elegance throughout the Castello.
At Castello di Vicarello, days are spent wandering the estate’s 40 hectares, which have been organic farmland for 25 years, with Carlo Baccheschi Berti and his eldest son Brando establishing a highly successful award-winning vineyard with wine tastings as well as produce that supplies the hotel’s kitchen, including olive oil and vegetables.
