Fitbit: Health & Fitness

This product was recommended by Alex Magnin from Alex Magnin & The Unwinder

Many aren’t aware that you don’t need to own a Fitbit to utilize the free Fitbit walking app. With the option to track through GPS or motion steps you can review your time, pace, distance, steps and calories burned all for free! You can also challenge your friends to adventurous challenges for some extra motivation!

Strava: Run, Ride, Swim

This product was recommended by Alex Mastin from Home Grounds

Strava is Swedish for “strive,” it is used by athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike because it is just so accessible on all levels. It has both the free version and the subscription. I personally prefer the subscription that comes at $7.99/month or $60/year. While the free version helps you track your progress and share it with your friends, the subscription has add-ons like route planning, goal setting, a training log, advanced metrics which is super helpful especially if you are someone like me who likes to be very organized.

Pacer Pedometer & Step Tracker

This product was recommended by Nadia Chariff from Coffeeble

By far, my clients’ favorite walking tracker is Pacer Pedometer & Step Tracker. It’s geared towards walkers of all ages (my 8 year old niece loves it). My walking clients particularly like that it has unique features for walkers & isn’t predominantly a runners app. Runners apps like Map My Run put undue pressure on my walking clients to be super athletes when I just want them to stay active & healthy in whatever way serves them. It makes tracking walks so easy–too easy not to use daily. All outside activity is logged effortlessly & coached with encouragement, which is what victims of Covid lockdown & sedentary remote workers really need. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Map My Walk by Under Armour

This product was recommended by Tim Robertson from inVPN

The good thing about this app is that the graphs and charts are easy to read. It works well with other devices like smartwatches and you can sync it with under armor running shoes. Also, you will not get lost using this because it offers different and new routes that you can discover. This app brings convenience while using it. It is indeed remarkable.

Walkmeter Walking & Hiking GPS

This product was recommended by Dave Pedley from YourCub

The Walkmeter has all the usual features that track, record, and measure your vital signs and performance. But the features I particularly like are that it links to Google Maps for more detailed terrain viewing; while the Race Compete feature means you can measure and compare your performance on multiple walks over the same route. It even records the weather!
